Frequently Asked Questions

How much does your training program cost?

Atlanta CDL Training School has a curriculum that is customized for each specific student. Therefore, you would have to contact our school representative for your personalized program cost. Please call (678) 400-7812 and a school representative would be happy to assist you with obtaining your personalized quote.


What does it mean to be a sponsored candidate?

At Atlanta CDL Training School, we have partnerships with various companies that refer their potential new hires to our school for training. Thus, the company has agreed to cover the cost of tuition for the potential new hire in an agreement to work with that company upon successful completion of the course and obtaining their CDL from Department of Driver Services (DDS).


Is there a difference in curriculum if I get sponsored or not?

No!  Atlanta CDL Training School will always and absolutely train you in its entirety to successful complete our course and obtain your CDL with DDS.  Many of our company-sponsored partners have selected that each of their potential new hires receive the most extensive training and services as these services and training would benefit the student and company upon starting their new career.


How can I get a company sponsorship?

Sponsored CDL Training Program may be available with various carriers where upfront costs are paid for to include tuition, food, lodging and the cost to get your CDL license.  Contact each individual carrier to inquire about sponsorship programs.  

How long is your training program?

Our CDL – A training course is 4 weeks long to include 160 hours of instruction of classroom, range, and over-the-road training.  Our CDL B class is coming soon. 


What does your training program include?

Atlanta CDL Training School’s goal is to assist students to become successful, professional CDL drivers. We do not teach and train you the minimum requirements for success. We train you for so much more. From the start you will be taught the DOT requirements for entrance into the CDL trucking industry, in-depth knowledge of tractor-trailer trucks and various modes of transporting freight, endorsements, principles of communication, range skills, i.e., backing, safety, over-the-road management skills, and so much more. Our 160-hour training course exceeds the minimum prerequisites of DOT providing each student with more time to appropriately train behind the wheel.


How are you different from other schools?

Atlanta CDL Training School was designed with the student in mind. We provide in-depth training, offering more hours than other schools. We designed our program to give our students the adequate time and opportunity through our training to become comfortable behind the wheel whether performing maneuvers or driving over the road. Through our partnerships we offer additional services that will assist you in your career beyond your CDL training. Our goal is to prepare you for success in your new career.


Does your school provide me with a job upon completion of the program?

We do not guarantee job placement upon completion of your training. However, we do assist our students with access to obtaining gainful employment through our many partnerships within the commercial trucking industry. Furthermore, in addition to the current backlog of freight, the trucking industry is in high demand for the need of drivers. Pay and many incentives will continue to escalate as the demand for drivers continues to increase.


What qualifications do I need to attend your school and become a CDL driver?

Atlanta CDL Training School entrance requirements are as follows:

  • You must be 21+ years or older.

  • You must be able to pass the DOT requirements of successful completion of 1), DOT Physical 2) DOT Drug Test, 3) Background and Fingerprint investigation.

What would disqualify me from getting into your program?

Atlanta CDL Training School entrance requirements are as follows:

  • You must be 21+ years or older.

  • You must be able to pass the DOT requirements: 1) DOT Physical, 2) DOT Drug Test, 3) Background and Fingerprint investigation

If you are unable to meet the requirements above, you will not qualify for admission into our training school.


Do I need to know anything about taking the DOT Physical or DOT Drug test prior to going?

Once you submit your application you will be provided with all the information on the DOT physical and drug testing.  If you have immediate concerns and questions, please feel free to call our office at (678) 400-7812.


Does your program provide me with a CDL upon successful completion of the program?

No. Atlanta CDL Training School will provide all the tools and training that is necessary to assist you in obtaining the CDL of your choice. You must schedule an appointment for your Drivers Test with the Department of Driver Services (DDS) and upon successful completion of the test, you will be awarded your CDL. We will assist all our students with scheduling.


How is your program keeping everyone safe from Covid?

Atlanta CDL Training School follows CDC guidelines. Wearing a mask is optional.  Our classroom is spaced and allow for social distancing, in our trucks we limit the number of students at one time, we offer virtual learning where possible, and we sanitize our facilities and equipment daily.


How do I get started/signup to get into your school?

There are 2 options to help you get started.

A). Visit our website under the “Get Started” tab. Our website is designed to walk you step-by-step through our enrollment process; or

(B). Call our office at (678) 400-7812 and one of our school representatives will be happy to assist you further.


What happens if I don’t pass and get my CDL permit with DDS on my first attempt?

You are allowed 3 attempts to take your written exam for your CDL permit. If you are unsuccessful on your first or second attempt, you must wait 1 day before retesting on each attempt. Atlanta CDL Training School will hold your spot as you are undergoing your written exam, and the next phase of training will begin upon obtaining your permit.


What happens if I don’t pass my CDL driving test with DDS on my first attempt?

You are allowed 4 attempts to retest for your CDL driving test if you are unsuccessful on your first attempt. Atlanta CDL Training School will assist you in getting the earliest appointment available. However, all appointments are scheduled based on availability by each location.


Do you train for HazMat endorsement?  If yes, how long is the training and is it at an additional cost?

Yes! Our training program was designed to equip our students with the tools and knowledge to pass and certify for all subjects that are on the DDS written and driving skills test. This includes those seeking their HazMat endorsement. The training is incorporated into the curriculum at no extra cost. Upon successful completion of our program, our students will be qualified to take the HazMat written exam. However, you will need to ensure that you meet other requirements stipulated by DDS prior to testing.


For those Drivers that already have their CDLs and wish to obtain a Hazmat endorsement, please contact our office for information and pricing. 


Do you offer grants, loans, or financing options to pay for the program?

No, but there are various programs and financing options. Please visit the Financial Aid tab on our website or call our office.


What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept payments in the form of Certified Checks and Credit Card/Debit Cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, Amex, Diners Club).
